Create Maui is an art studio providing quality art lessons, workshops, and events. Join us for one of our after-school classes, a jewelry workshop, or let us host your next ladies night or birthday party! Create Maui can also travel to your next special event to provide a memorable art experience for your guests. 

Mission:

The Mission of Create Maui is to provide an environment that inspires creativity and exploration of the arts. Through quality instruction, students are exposed to new ways of seeing and creating art. Students learn fundamental techniques that nurture the development of their own personal style of visual expression. Create Maui hopes to give you a life-long love of the arts!

Founding:

Create Maui began as a small dream in a garage in 2010. The goal was to create a homey, welcoming studio for children to explore the wonder and joy of art. Owner and instructor Monica Knight has been in the art education field for over 10 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific university, a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Brown University, and a K-12 teaching credential in Art. In Maui, she has taught and led programs at Sacred Hearts School, Kapalua Art School, the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center, Kahului Baptist Preschool, and Smart Start Preschool. She began taking art lessons at the age of 6 in a garage art studio reminiscent of this one. 

Spring 2024

Mixed Media Drawing

Students will combine different art media in fun, imaginative projects that will develop their drawing skills. students will use media such as charcoal, pastel, watercolor, collage, and marker to compose visually interesting drawings. We will explore different Subject matter such as abstraction, flowers, animals and landscapes.

All ages, 5 and up

Tuesdays 12:45-1:45pm

Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 pm

Thursdays 3:15-4:15pm or 4:30-5:30pm

Fridays 3:30-4:30 pm

Summer Camps 2024

Clay Workshop

Join us for a hands-on camp discovering the medium of clay! Students will practice basic clay techniques such as pinch, coil, slab, stamping, sgraffito, slip and score To make traditional pottery vessels such as bowls and pots. They will also learn how to combine these techniques to make creative sculptures and forms. (*We will be using air dry clay for this class.)

June 3-7
9-11:30am or 2-4:30pm
Ages 5 and up
Price: $200 (Includes clay supplies and taxes)

Nature Painting

In this camp, students will observe nature from the environment, photos, and other artwork to inspire beautiful paintings of their own! They will learn acrylic and watercolor painting skills, such as brush control, color theory, composition, blending, and layering. We will also try different styles of painting, including minimalism, impressionism, and realism.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Private and Semi-Private Lessons are available. I will customize classes according to the student’s interest and schedule. Please contact me for more info.
